BREAKING NEWS FOR OUR CCW CUSTOMERS…

To the Whittaker Arms CCW Community;

On December 22, 2022 New Jersey Legislators passed a revision of prior laws governing New Jersey CCW. Within those laws contained a mandate that required the New Jersey State Police to implement training and qualification guidelines for firearms instructors regarding CCW classes. These requirements were to be developed within seven months after the signing of the December 22, 2022 bill. 

On or about July 18, 2023 the New Jersey State Police released the “Use of Force Interim Training for Private Citizen Concealed Carry”. The last few days there’s been an influx of articles on social media and the Internet concerning these new requirements which on face value seem confusing.  These new requirements affect any current CCW holders that have NOT received the proper course of instruction.

Whittaker Arms CCW reached out to the New Jersey State police and we were able to confirm that the course that we designed and have used since our inception, meets and exceeds the requirements of this Interim training as set forth by the New Jersey State Police.

We are happy to announce that our course of fire which was, and still is substantially equivalent to the New Jersey Police Training Commission HQC2 (modified) course of fire.

• Our course also covers instruction on deadly force /use of force as defined by N.J.S.A. 2C:3-1
• Our course covers the discussion of malfunctions, safe handling, use, and storage of firearms.
• The course also covers range safety and shooting fundamentals, which includes proper shooting stances and holster use.
• The course of fire is 50 rounds, fired from several different yard lines and requires that applicants obtain a minimum score of 80% or better.

All past Whittaker Arms CCW attendees have received the proper instruction and therefore are NOT required to retake any course by the October 1, 2023 deadline.
